Welcome!

Welcome to my new voice students, Karina, Mariah, Anna, Hannah, Sabrina, Summer, and Adri! You've come to the right place to hear the music we will be learning and performing this year. These songs will teach you the melody and the words, but after we learn them we will start experimenting with how we want to perform them together. There may be more than one version of the same song so that you can hear multiple ways to sing it.

Here's what you need to do: Look this place up every day at home and sing along with the songs at least once. If you start to get sick of them, that's a good thing if it means you know the songs really well. Play with how you sing the songs. Try different styles and experiment with your voice. When I was a girl I spent a lot of time mimicking my favorite singers. Eventually I was able to choose my own style, and I am also able to sing other styles when I want to.

Be patient with yourself. A woman's voice does not fully mature until she is 25! But you greatly improve the quality of your voice by practicing and experimenting while young. The best thing you can do is just sing a lot. It helps to hear a recording of yourself singing occasionally so that you can correct the things you don't like once you hear them. We'll do some more of that later this year.

Have fun!

Anna
